3. Get a Detailed Written Quote
A professional quote should clearly list: scope of work per room, number of coats, paint brand and product, surface preparation included, timeline, payment terms, and warranty. Verbal quotes are a red flag.
4. Check Online Reviews
Look at Google Reviews, HomeStars, and Houzz. Read the negative reviews carefully — how did the company respond? A few imperfect reviews with professional responses are better than zero reviews.
5. Ask About Their Process
A professional painter should explain their preparation process in detail. If someone says “we’ll just slap two coats on” — run. Proper prep (cleaning, patching, priming, masking) is 60% of a great paint job.
